COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides introductions in the terminology design, application, setup, operation and daily care of conventional milling machines. This workshop aims to introduce the participants to the techniques related to the basic structure and most important parts of a milling machine and how to identify various mounting devices used to drive milling cutters and explain the application of a number of milling cutters.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Lubricate, clean and perform commonly assigned cleanup and operator maintenance duties for a milling machine.
  • Perform turning operation using conventional milling machines.
  • Identify required work and tool holding devices, select, mount, set-up and adjust appropriate accessories, attachments, and work pieces in preparation for performing milling machine operations such as facing, step, and slot milling etc.
  • Perform machine head/table and work holding device teachers.
  • Perform machine and work holding device alignment.
