COURSE OVERVIEW

This Occupational Safety Health Awareness in Workplace Training is targeted specifically at those who work in manufacturing and it covers essential topics like OSH legislation, safe work practice, building fire safety, machine safety, indoor air quality, ergonomics, safe lifting techniques, box cutter safety, materials handling, and much more. It`s ideal for showing new employees the right and wrong way of getting started, but it’s also an excellent refresher for existing workers who have been a little lazy in some areas of workplace safety. This training is conveniently conducted in English and Bahasa Malaysia language.

This training will provide the participants with a basic understanding of the main risks in manufacturing and some of the steps that can safeguard the Occupational Safety and health of employees, contractors and visitors. The programme contains information on the health and safety responsibilities of those involved in manufacturing according to Malaysia Law (Occupational Safety & Health 1994 or OSHA 1994) and also the latest Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022.

There are many aspects of Occupational Safety and health involved in manufacturing activities including fire safety and indoor air quality; noise; manual handling; the safe use of work equipment and electrical safety. The OSHA 1994 will apply to any event where there is a work activity.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Enable participants to acquire knowledge and implementation details of their roles & responsibilities with regard to OSHA 1994
  • Enable participants to acquire knowledge and implementation details of their roles & responsibilities with regard to Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022
  • Understand the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) 1984
  • Understand the Occupational Safety & Health 1994 requirements
  • Understand the information on hazards at the workplace, so as to mitigate the risk of accidents happening at the workplace
  • Ensure manufacturing operation and maintenance management policy and procedures conform to Occupational Safety & Health 1994
  • Set up an effective Safety and Health Policy and Committee
  • Understand the functions/requirements of the Safety and Health Committee
  • Identify the roles of individuals in ensuring safety and health at the workplace
  • Understand procedures for handling Safety issues. Identify unsafe work practices and take corrective actions
  • Understand on how to prepare Safe Operating Procedure (SOP) and Safe Work Instruction
  • Take appropriate preventive measures to control risk
  • Describe the principles of ergonomics related to manual handling, sitting at work, standing at work and basic ergonomics assessment
  • Define the hazards and workplace ergonomic risk management principles
  • Understand the Indoor Air Quality management
  • Understand emergency response and accident prevention
  • Fire precautions regulations/legislation
  • Chemistry of fire and how fire spreads
  • Common causes of fire
  • Safety features within buildings
  • Provide First Aid treatment for injuries and illness
  • Demonstrate Basic Life Support skills
  • Enable management to comply with the Legal Provision and DOSH guidelines
